John Hopkins Study (2011): How a Psychedelic Journey Can Be One of The Most Meaningful Experiences in Your Life

A 2011 study from Johns Hopkins University investigated how psilocybin could trigger profound “mystical experiences” in healthy volunteers. Around 60–70% of participants reported experiences so powerful they ranked them among the top five most meaningful events of their entire lives—on par with the birth of a child or the death of a parent. Even more striking, about 80% showed lasting positive changes in mood, behaviour and overall life satisfaction months later. The study suggested that it’s not just the substance itself that heals, but the profound shift in consciousness it can unlock when used in the right setting.
