Frontiers in Psychology (2023): Mindfulness and Psychedelics are correlated with increased leadership effecttiveness

A recent study published in Frontiers in Psychology and covered by PsyPost examined responses from 4,867 U.S. adults and 4,865 U.K. adults, focusing on a subset of 3,150 people in management roles. Among the managers, 43.6 % had tried mindfulness meditation and 17.7 % reported using psychedelics. Of those who had used mindfulness meditation, 70.9 % said it had a positive impact on their leadership; for psychedelic use, 40.6 % reported positive leadership effects. The study suggests that both practices may correlate with greater empathy, creativity, emotional awareness and leadership effectiveness, though it cautions that causality cannot be established given the cross-sectional design.
